Pokemon Go is turning heads across the globe. The app, which is called Poke Go for short, has gotten people off the couch and into the real world to start catching Pokemon. Instead of sitting in one spot and moving your Pokemon catcher with your keypad, the player actually has to move about their environment to find them. In other words, you have to walk around your block, to your local park, or to national monuments!
When I started playing Pokemon Go, I didn’t know what to expect. I thought it was going to be another regular game. Why was there such a craze? The game asked me to have access to my camera. Okay, what could that be for? When the screen turned on and there was a Pokemon sitting on the floor in my living room that I had to catch. I was WOWED! When the game asked me to start moving around to try and find Pokemon, walking around my house didn’t move me anywhere. A quick text to a friend of mine who already plays confirmed that I don’t get to walk around my house. I have to walk outside!
Pokemon Go brings your reality to gaming. You can be on your way to school and be near a Pokemon that you need to catch. You could be at a national monument and a Pokemon may be hanging around there. There has already been news stories about crowds of people rushing into Central Park in New York and a park in Washington. One thing is for certain, make sure you still are being careful, as there has also been news about someone being hit by a car while crossing the street playing Pokemon Go.
